My Story
Thank you for visiting my Cancer Research UK Cycle 300 page. In the UK, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. The good news is that cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 40 years, with 50% of people surviving after treatment. However, it’s a sad fact that most of us will experience this insidious disease, directly or indirectly. As someone who has been unlucky to lose a loved one to cancer, I have decided to play a small part in beating it; therefore this September, before the end of the month, I will complete 300 miles on my bike for Cancer Research UK. I’ll be riding to and from work and around the (mainly flat!) parts of Exeter over the 30 days, exploring our lovely city and raising funds for a cause I feel very strongly about. I’m hoping that you will sponsor me in this challenge. Any amount will be gratefully received and nothing is too small. A few examples of what your donation could buy: £5 kits out a research lab with essential consumables such as chemicals, £10 buys parts for equipment and £50 gets a scientific sieve that separates DNA for study. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure but I can also supply a paper form if required. Please also remember to Gift Aid your donation if you can so it goes that little bit further. My target is modest but with your help, I know we can raise money for life-saving research that will help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
