My Story
Hello, Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. I'm Brad Shaw, voice actor and founder of VO training community Wonderland VO. At the beginning of the first lock down, I was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma and had to undergo a year of immunotherapy at the wonderful Royal Marsden Hospital in London. Just as I was getting over that, I got prostate cancer and had a HIFU operation just over a year ago at the Charing Cross Hospital. Recently, I heard that the stage 3 melanoma has returned and had another op in mid July to remove lymph nodes from under my arm. But I refuse to let the cancer finish me. During that first lockdown I created The Wonderland Challenge, where 159 voiceovers including many famous actors and celebrities each recorded a minute of Alice in Wonderland and donated to the NHS. You can read all about it here: https://www.bradshawvoice.com/post/wonderlandchallenge So it feels like the time is right to launch 'Wonderland Challenge 2: Alice Through The Looking Glass' this time in aid of Cancer Research. So this time, I have split the book up into 174 portions (averaging about a minute per portion). Similar to last time, I have recorded the first and last minutes of the book and donated some money to Cancer Research. I then called on all professional voice overs to take part. I was inundated with offers. Each recording came with a supportive message and a tale of how their family has been affected by Cancer. It was then my task to edit all these wonderful pieces together to produce a wonderful audiobook. The book is being released as a podcast chapter by chapter during December 2023. Take a listen here to the first chapter on spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1om2vA7tJgnrwpo2Qf1xas The Challenge website is www.wonderlandvo.com/challenge. Chapter 2 will be released on December 6th and then a chapter will be released every two days until the book is complete before. It will be available on all good podcast platforms by searching 'The Wonderland Challenge 2: Alice Through The Looking Glass' This link on this page is run directly by Cancer Research UK. My initial aim was to raise £2000. We smashed through that target and the next one of £4000. My new target is £10,000. With your help, we should be able to smash that target to. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Thank you all so much.
