My Story
In October 2022, I was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer Metastatic Intrahepatic Cholangiacarcinoma, (Bile Duct Cancer) which had spread to my Liver, Left lung, and Omentum. The prognosis was not good, on average around 12 months of survival. It was terminal without medication and with treatment around 2% chance of surviving the year. My physical state was poor, and I was on the verge of Palative care. I was physically sick, not able to hold food, in pain, and bed ridden. Mentally though, I was in a positive place, as I had made my piece with life, and the only thing to do was to fight and stay alive. This I did with a lot of help from people close to me, and also the wonderful staff at #The Christie, and #St Anne’s Hospice at Little Hulton near Bolton, who administered the Chemotherapy, over 2022/2023. In conjunction with the treatment, I also started physical exercises, stopped drinking alcohol in October 2022, and focused on finding treatments using Chemical literature research, established Oncologist understandings, and new findings studies into my cancer, to maximise effectiveness of my chemotherapy. My diet was totally transformed to include super foods, and natural plant drinks, which my dearest Wife Oksana, meticulously researched, and which helped me gain weight, and strength. As a result my tumour shrunk and physically, and mentally, my wellbeing is in a good place. So why do the Charity 10K walk? We live in a society where 1 in 2 of us will get cancer by statistics. The word Cancer or big C, is not the end, but the start of the fight for each individual who unfortunately gets this cruel disease. I’m fighting this daily as my prognosis was not good at the start, but one thing I will not do is give up without a fight. I’ll use all the resources available to me, to make sure that I beat this disease, but also I want to help the next generation who gets this particular cancer, to have a better course of new treatments, that will give them a better chance of survival. This walk is not about me, but about giving people hope, and a reference to someone who was given a poor prognosis, and didn't give up, but continues to fight on as long as he can. I hope through this Walk I can raise money for Cancer Research, so that new treatments, and support can be developed for the future. As 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work. Please donate to my Giving Page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
