My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. I will be running for Heather, Peter’s sister (my sister-in-law). We were hoping that she had longer but sadly she lost her battle with cancer last Friday at the age of 57. Heather was diagnosed 18 months ago with a brain tumour and Neuroblastoma, which is extremely rare in adults, affecting 1 in 10 million adults per year. Chemotherapy, radiation and the various symptoms of her condition were hard enough for Heather but losing her independence to do the everyday activities of living a normal life also impacted her significantly, as she was a very independent, strong, and caring person. Going from being the care giver to needing some care herself, was very challenging for Heather, so she continued for as long as she could to live as normal a life as possible. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. May she rest in peace. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work, so please sponsor me now.
