In memory of
Jane Gant
6th Aug 1965 - 3rd Jun 2009
This June marked 9 years since we lost our beautiful mummy to cancer. Which means next June marks 10 years - a whole decade without her. Now, we not only miss her, but the relationship we could have had and the memories we could have made. For those of you that weren’t lucky enough to meet her, or who don’t know her story, our mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001, just a month after completing the London Marathon. She fought her way back to health after a number of operations, chemotherapy and radiology - ensuring the all clear in 2002. Unfortunately, the disease aggressively returned in 2007 and she lost her battle on 3rd June 2009. So, to mark this passing of time, I’m signing up for/ organising 10 challenges to try to complete over the next 12 months (along with Laura, Katie and whoever else wants to get involved). Whether it was breezing through the Windsor half marathon every year, taking on the enormous challenge of the London marathon, or just walking through through the forest with her closest friends when she was ill, our mum was active and always took part in events so that she might help others have a future free from the fear of cancer. I hope I can channel some of her enormous resolve, honour her memory and raise money for an extremely important charity. Any donation – no matter how small – will help us beat cancer! 10 challenges for 10 years.
