My Story
Hi all thank you for taking time to read my story.... Cancer is a disease that turns people’s lives upside down in a blink of an eye, it’s one of those things that you hear about but never think it will happen to you but unfortunately for us it did. My dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer in August 2018, our world as we knew it came crashing down and was replaced by a feeling of dread, heartache and total despair. The hospital appointments were endless, the unknown and wait between scans, procedures and biopsy results hung heavily over us. After numerous procedures, tests and consultations with the doctors it was decided that for the best possible results in fighting this disease was for dad to have Radical Cystectomy (removal of the bladder and prostrate, and new bladder reconstruction). This is major, life changing operation and was what awaited us in January 2019, as a family we supported each other and did what we needed to do to get dad through all this. All the medical teams we have met along the way have been absolute gems, the level of care dad has received from the very beginning and still to this day has been superb and faultless. We just want to give something back to say “Thank You “, without the technology, knowledge and support we’ve been given, my dad may not have been a survivor. Each day he is getting better and making huge progress and we are all so very grateful. Francine Siracusa.
