My Story
Over the last 5 years I have had to watch 2 of my closest friends, my uncle and my dad endure the pain and heartbreak that is cancer. My friends and Uncle are currently in remission and I am forever thankful for this but my Dad lost the fight. He was only given a maximum of 2 years to live but he fought for almost 15. His last year was during COVID lockdowns and that was the hardest of them all. I can’t even attempt to imagine what it was like for him, especially when he was on his own at the end without visitors. As a result of all this, I have set myself the challenge of doing the Ride 100, a 100 mile bike ride, at the end of May, and running the London Marathon in October this year. I’m doing this all in the aid of Cancer Research and would very much appreciate your support and donating to this amazing charity. £50 could fund one of Cancer Research UK’s cancer information nurses for two hours to offer confidential support to people affected by cancer. £100 could fund a patient’s cancer biopsy, where a tiny amount of tumour is removed to be studied in the lab. £300 could fund a trial of an improved radiotherapy technique for prostate cancer for 1 day.

Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
