My Story
Hello there! If you've come this far, then you probably know enough about me already to know that I care a hell of a lot about beating cancer. It took my Grandad. It tried to take my Mum, but she's an amazing fighter and saw it off. It took one of my Fiance's closest friends, and if that wasn't enough it's played havoc with the lives of lots of people I care about. And that's why I work day in, day out, as hard as I can as Captain of Team 69 running the amazing Cancer Research UK store in Glasgow's city centre to raise as much as I can to beat this god awful disease. But, there's always more you can do and last year, I walked 10k through the streets of Glasgow on a Saturday night - sticking to the shadows to avoid the drunks - with one of my best friends, Fraser, and raised several hundred pounds. We even got in the Evening Times too, though that was a much scarier experience. And that's why we'll be doing it all over again this year, for our sins. This year I've managed to persuade my other best friend, Dylan, to clear his busy diary and join us too so there's safety in numbers. Anyway, before I go off rambling as you all know I frequently do, please, please donate anything you can afford to that we can use to walk all over cancer on your behalf. Every single penny helps fund research that finds new treatments and cures and I've been lucky enough to see this in action. If me getting a couple of blisters means one less family going through the traumas I've seen in my life, then bring on the Compeed. To anyone who can give anything, pounds, pennies or just good wishes, enormous hugs and love to you all, it means the world. Ben xxx
