Baz's and James' Race for Life

My Story

Hello everyone, We have, as a family, been raising funds and support for numerous charities over the last ten years, mainly through running events. For this year we have decided to something a bit personal to raise funds in the fight against Cancer as over recent years it has affected us, our extended family and friends, sadly probably something a lot of you can relate to and empathise with. The latest statistics now show that 1 in 2 of us will develop some form of cancer in our lifetime... ☹ So, James and I will be running the Race for Life 10k in Bristol and we are going to be doing it in memory of the following people in the photos below: Gordon, James' Grandad who served in the Fleet Air Arm for over 22 years who was taken by lung cancer, Wills, a huge character who passed away due to a brain tumour aged 9. Bob, a dear friend and founder of CLIC who raised over £110m for children with cancer after the loss of his young son. He beat cancer twice but sadly the third time cancer took this amazing man from the world. Lucas, a big supercar fan who sadly lost his fight against a brain tumour aged 10. Steve, a friend and Poppy Day legend having raised over £1m for the RBL before pancreatic cancer took him. Harry, an inspirational RAF Cadet Sergeant who lost his fight against a brain tumour aged 15. Ollie, another amazing young boy sadly taken by brain and spine cancer at only 13. Frank Baugh, D-Day Veteran and friend who was taken by pancreatic cancer and Len Hobbs, D-Day Veteran and friend who lost his fight against blood cancer. Bryony, a lovely, popular and well respected lady within the BRNC community, taken far too soon. We know there is a cost of living crisis which is affecting us all but hope you are able to help in some way with the fundraising, even £1. We aren't runners by any measure of the word and will be training from zero building up to the run with an aim of putting in a good time in memory and honour of the special people above.
