My Story
In the UK, someone is diagnosed with cancer every 90 seconds and 1 in 2 people born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. These are hard hitting facts - but not as hard hitting as when someone close to you is diagnosed. That’s why 10 Firefighters from Avon Fire and Rescue service will be cycling to Paris from Bath in just 3 days this September. Day 1, 14th September: We will be leaving Bath fire station at 10am, cycling a rather hilly 95 miles (153km) to Portsmouth Harbour for a 10pm ferry to Caen. Day 2, 15th September: Caen to Evreux, approximately 85 miles (137km). Day 3, 16th September: Evreux to Paris, our last day is our shortest day at 70 miles (113km), and finishing off on the Champs Elysse. The 10 riders are Matt Parsons, Kit Chapman, Rich Wheeler, Ian Manfield, Ben Parsons, Alex Gapper, Alex Werren, Liam Higgs, Pete Showering, Jon Holmes.
