My Story
Dearest family and friends spread around the four corners of the earth. In my wildest dreams I never imagined I would be sitting here writing this. I wake up every morning thinking it is just a bad dream but it's not. As you know, in September 2016, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. A high grade uncommon and serious stage IVB uterine sarcoma/carcinosarcoma (it's usually one or the other but I have both - typical). I am generally fit and healthy and had no symptoms at all - those I did have were attributed to early Menopause! This cancer is not genetic or life-style related nor is it detectable, even through regular check-ups, unless specifically looked for. It's a rogue cell. Following major surgery, I am now undergoing Chemo but unfortunately the cancer has already spread to several other organs. SO, our challenge now is to raise as much money as possible for research into early detection. I have signed up for the 5K Race for Life in Newbury on Sunday July 2nd. I would have gone for the 10K but I'm too lazy ...........I already have a group of girls (including mum) ready to join me and you can too by: - Sponsoring me on my fundraising page - pass to all your friends, family, colleagues, local community, church and anyone else who owes you a favour - Signing up with your own fundraising page and joining me on the day in Newbury - Signing up for my or another local event and setting up your own fundraising page (best way to make the most money) - Organising something to raise money in your home city - that means YOU - cousins in Australia, UK, Holland, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Iceland, Israel, Germany (remember I know where you live.....) Hopefully next year we can aim for the 10K although I'll still be walking as I can't remember the last time I ran anywhere. So let's do this. I know our beloved Bindi will be there with us sitting on my shoulder (lazy so-and-so) like she always is. She's keeping a place for me "upstairs" but she'll need to wait a while longer. Thank youxxxxxxx
