My Story
I am Ayden. I have just turned six and I will be doing 5k for the Pretty Muddy® Race for Life for Cancer Research UK. Cancer is close to our hearts, as we have a few cancer survivors in our family (including my dearest khala ji). Mum here: The ad for Race for Life kept popping up on my social media feed, and in one sleepy, tired moment late at night, I signed us up, when I read that children over 1.2m tall and aged between 5-12 can participate.. Perfect.. Deed done!. It was not until the next morning that I properly looked at the terms and conditions and the realisation dawned on me. The course is approximately 5k ( just over 3 miles)... whaaaaaaaat? We love our walks and runs, but we have never done 5k before. Will Ay be able to hold up. Probably yes, but will I?? hmm unlikely! It was a moment of panic I must admit, and I called the customer services to cancel. I heard one of the kindest and calmest voices I have ever spoken to. He reassured me it is all fun, and we won't even feel the "5k", as the course is regularly intercepted by interesting (muddy) obstacles. We can jog or walk or hop, however we want! I felt a bit better and decided to get on with it.. So here we are. Please cheer us on and help us with our fund raising for this great cause. Did you know that 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
