My Story
As some of you are aware i had a little dance with the big C last year. Thankfully it wasn't, but a tumor of divecular disease instead. Still resulted in a 7 hour operation and a stay in the Cumberland Infirmary. While there i met some amazing people who were going through a similiar experiencing to me. We'd all had lumps cut out of our bowels, some going on to chemo etc. As you can imagine you get a few blokes in a room and the banter starts, from winding up the Mayor of Whitehaven to playing pranks on the nurses. We're all still going thanks to the amazing staff at the Cumberland from the surgeon to the nurses who put up with us on a daily basis. Having been inspired by my now good friend the former Mayor of Whitehaven Chris, whose just completed 100 miles for Cancer Research while still under going chemo I'm doing the Great North Run this September. As part of my surgery i was left with a Stoma which can be a bit inconveinient while running, but hey ho that's how the cookie crumbles. Hopefully that will be reversed later in the year. So I would be grateful if you could sponsor me as I shuffle round the mean streets of the Toon. Thanks the Appley Shuffler Tim
