My Story
In memory of Germain Andrews Hi all. I hike across various locations throughout Britain, I'd love to start hiking throughout other countries. I love it, the freedom, the experiences and challenges it brings. The amazing people I connect with on the way. The stories I hear and share. Its a wonderful way of discovering yourself and what you can do. In 2020 I started I fundraising for Cancer Research UK through my hiking and hosting small events for the holidays. Im a massive supporter of CRUK because I suffer with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis. As a result I've had bowel cancer twice. I live with a permanent ileostomy bag. Ive struggled with my condition and over the last 14 years I have had 39 operations. I lost my younger brother Germain to the same xonditon 5 years ago when he was diagnosed with bowel cancer which metastasized to his lungs, pancreas, liver and finally his brain. I hike and fundraise in honour of him. He goes everywhere I go. I can't stress enough the importance of getting checked out as soon as you start showing any signs of bowels problems, its an incredibly touchy and embarrassing subject to talk about but the sooner they find out what's causing your symptoms the better. My next hiking challenge is snowdonia in March (depending on covid and lockdown restrictions) for 9-10 days from the North to the south, hopefully covering 120miles. Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
