My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. In the last 50 years, Cancer Research UK’s work has helped double cancer survival in the UK. But we need to go further, faster. Donate today to help bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. I’m Anish from Liverpool. Last year, on our baby’s first birthday, we chose to celebrate differently not with gifts, but by raising funds for the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. We asked our friends and family to donate instead of bringing presents, and what began as a small idea became something truly meaningful. We felt incredibly proud, and even more touched when our friends were inspired to do the same for their own children’s birthdays. Now, I want to take this further. I am planning a long-distance walk of nearly 300 miles, from Dungeness Beach to Wallasey Beach, to support cancer research. I have never done anything like this before, but I feel a strong desire to do something for people who are struggling with cancer. This journey is not just physical it is deeply personal and emotional. I will give my best effort to complete this long-distance walk, as long as my health allows me to continue. My hope is that this journey will not only raise funds but also inspire others along the way. If even one person who meets me during this walk decides to help others in their own way, then this effort will be truly worthwhile. What inspired me most was seeing how one small act of kindness spread among friends. It made me realize that instead of accepting gifts, we can turn every special occasion into an opportunity to help someone in need. A small contribution can make a big difference in someone’s life. I also dream of taking this initiative into schools and colleges, encouraging students to involve such kind of activities and if they learn the value of helping others from a young age, they will grow into a generation that is kinder, more compassionate, and willing to make a difference. As a parent of a young child, my main motivation comes from wanting to raise her with these values from the very beginning. I believe that by involving myself in these kinds of activities, I can teach her the importance of kindness and helping others. I also hope to inspire other children to follow the same path, because they are the future, and nurturing these values early can create a better and more caring society. This is more than a walk. It is a step towards hope, kindness, and a world where we think of others as much as we think of ourselves.
