My parents and the future
In memory of
xxx Mam and Dad xxx
Having lost both my parents as well as 3 of my grandparents to cancer, I know the devastating heartbreak this horrible, cruel disease causes, not just to those fighting it but to those left behind. Mam was diagnosed and passed away all too suddenly 10 years ago. Dad was lucky to have been part of a trial for a new treatment, immunotherapy which gave him a little more time, thanks to the scientists working hard to find a cure for cancer. Dad fought so bravely and positively for a long time but still, in the end, cancer won and left my children without either of their maternal grandparents in the world earlier this year. Nobody's future is certain but thanks to cancer research, it is a little more promising. This is why myself and my two girls have been training to jog (instead of walk) the Race for Life this year, to give us a healthier lifestyle, as well as keep a promise I have made to them every year, that 'next year' we would run. I have done Race for Life every year since losing Mam and will continue to do so every year, with the girls by my side. Even if you can only donate 50p, it all counts and we very much appreciate it. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure.
