One in three people in the UK will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Many of us already know the shock and pain of seeing a loved one go through this terrible illness. As many of you know, cancer has affected my family greatly over recent years. A special shout out to those we miss dearly every day, including my Uncle Gary and my beautiful Nan - the life and soul of every party - who I will be running in memory of. By raising money for organisations like Cancer Research UK, we can bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. So , the challenge: running 13.1 miles! I managed to secure a charity place with Cancer Research UK, however this means that I need to reach their set target of £400 (or fund the difference myself). Prior to starting my training in July, it had been YEARS since I last went on a run, even down the road. So, this summer has been painful to say the least! 4 runs a week, increasing mileage each time, running hungover, sometimes in 30 degree heat - including several mad 7am alarms on holiday in southern France! As if that's not bad enough, I've also decided to juggle training with a house move, renovations and planning a wedding. I am absolutely mad! Nevertheless, I signed myself up for this for a good reason, and I am determined to complete it! This is where you (hopefully) come in. Every donation will not only spur me on and help me finish this training and drag myself round the route on the day, but far more importantly - it will literally help save lives. As an extra incentive, I will treat you to a horrendous photo of me running - or at least crawling - across the finish line.
