Andrew's Race for Life
Redditch 10k 2019

Cancer is something that we all hope never befalls our family and friends. Sadly, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and it is a pain that each of us have sadly all experienced. In recent year, my brave cousin (Sophie Johnston) and uncles (Ian Allen and Bryan Johnston) have each received the terrible news but have refused to allow it to influence any aspect of their life. Their determination to remain positive in the face of adversity; to provide love and strength for the family and friends who depend entirely upon them and to keep their amazing sense of humour, are what has inspired me to make a push to raise money. Alongside Sophie, Ian and Bryan, we have seen the affects of cancer when it took our horse racing mad Grandfather in Joe Johnston. The cornerstone of the Johnston family. However, Cancer affects more than families. It attacks amazing friends whose memories and love either still remain with us or vividly in our hearts and minds. So, whilst 10k is not far and whilst this is not something I am doing for personal accolades, please help to find a cure for cancer and donate whatever you can; how ever much you can to support this amazing charity. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now and enjoy the idea of an overweight, cynical man in his late twenties suffer to help raise money for those who will suffer a great deal more.
