I am doing this with one of my very brave sisters; Lynda. She is taking on this Race for Life task even though it is going to be a massive struggle for her, she was diagnosed with rectal and colon cancer which thankfully has been treated and she now has the all clear, **YAY**, but still lives with the consequences of the treatment and the surgery and is not 'well' by any stretch. We will walk, skip, possibly run and will definitely cry this 5k...THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE DISTANCE, this is a challenge and it will be a massive achievement for my sister and I am happy to be there for her, all the way. :-) We will also be doing this for anther reason, unfortunately another of our sisters, Paula, was diagnosed in September 2016 with lung and kidney cancer. This cannot be cured BUT can be treated so she faces a long road ahead. Already it has brought numerous problems to her and of course her loved ones but she is a fighting and really does put the finger up to cancer! Race for Life is ALL about contributing to the research, the more that can be put in to it, the better the outcomes will be for everyone - those who have been diagnosed; those who love them and those that treat them.
