I'm taking part in Race for Life to raise money to beat cancer sooner.

My Story

Last year, my best friend was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It happened when she was on her second month of pregnancy. By this time, not only her thyroid gland, but also all nearby lymph nodes were cancerous. She faced a situation where she either had to start her treatment as soon as possible and do an abortion, or take a risk and give birth to her baby. However, due to high risks, all doctors insisted on abortion. To me, that was an example of extreme courage and desire to live. 5 months after the diagnosis, my friend gave birth to a healthy, lovely boy. Then she started her fight with this disease. It took more than a year. She went through surgery and rounds of radiotherapy. Today, my friend is a young, happy mother. However, till the end of her life she will stay on synthetic thyroid hormone. This story taught me that cancer can happen to anyone independently of your lifestyle, age, or background. Cancer is not selective. Cancer is happening right now!!! It doesn't matter where the next most efficient treatment will be found. It will benefit everyone. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please support me now.
