My Story

I know more than most how important it is to help fund cancer research. Working in the field for the last 10 years, I am constantly amazed by the advances in our understanding of cancer susceptibility, disease progression and the development of new treatments that are funded directly by charities like CRUK. I recent years I have also seen how funding has been squeezed, and how this can have a real negative impact on labs doing worthwhile research. In these uncertain economic times it's more important than ever to keep supporting research into cancer. Also in recent years, close family members have been impacted by cancer and seeing the effect that it has up close and personal has spurred me to get fund raising again! I was prompted to sign up for this race by my cousin Phil who is running the marathon and aiming for a sub-3 hour finish. And if his Strava training is anything to go by he's on course for it, an amazing achievement, especially as he's effectively at retiree age now. So you should probably not bother sponsoring me, and go and fund his page instead: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/phils-giving-page-69
