Amelia's Race for Life

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. When our daughter was 3 years old, she was diagnosed with ALL Leaumekia. Our world was turned upside down and the journey had only just begun. She started her chemo straight away and we had to watch her from being a vibrant little girl to a very poorly girl unable to sometimes even walk. The chemo changed her personality, her looks and her life. We were treated at lgi hospital and we can remember being in there for what seemed forever. Her whole treatment lasted 2 1/2 years and eventually we started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Amelia went into remission in January 17th 2016 and is now 9 years old and is an amazing intelligent girl. Without the research and the treatment from the oncologists at lgi we could never have made it through. They became our family, from the receptionists, the Macmillan workers, nurses, consultants and play workers. Everyone made our experience as pleasant as it could be and was always there for Amelia and for me and dad. She kicked cancers butt and i couldn’t be more proud!!
