Alison's Walk All Over Cancer Fundraising Page

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by making a donation to my page. James got a pain in his side that wouldn’t go away. He was fit, healthy, and active, had a real zest for life and took delight in the little things. But the pain turned out to be liver complications of very late stage oesophageal cancer. He died three and half weeks later. Too quickly for us to catch our breath. Three hospitals, life saving emergency surgery, and doctors who barely got ahead of test results. By the time they understood the prognosis we already knew. Oesophageal cancer is one of the incurable ones. We thanked fate for giving us those last family moments together, and found the positive in not having years of treatment and uncertainty. For James, cancer was brutal and decisive. That was November 2019. There’s not a day I don’t look down the garden and expect to see him walk in through the back gate. This March James would have celebrated his 50th Birthday. He was our motivator, and lockdown would have been much more active if he was still here. Committing to walk 10,000 steps each day in March has given us that motivation.
