My Story

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. I am running to raise money in the name of my sister Shirley. She was the eldest of us three girls and is missed every day by her whole family. Cancer is incredibly cruel and I so wish this goes some way to helping find new treatments which fight the disease and hopefully one day cure it. Shirley was diagnosed in May 2021 and sadly passed away early August. So quick. To try and save people from suffering so much and families dealing with all the fallout would be incredible! That is our motivation for running this Race!

Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
