My Story
Mum lost her fight to cancer 13 years ago and Grandma 2 and a half years ago. My first race for life was 15 years ago when mum and I did it together not knowing what was going to happen to our family. A year later mum was diagnosed with cancer and wasn't strong enough to race with me but was there waiting for me at the finish line, a year later she had lost her fight and I had to race on my own about 4 weeks after she had died, even though she wasn't physically with me I knew that she was there watching over me. Since that time I have taken part every year (apart from 2) and will be doing my 14th Race for Life. Last year I was crazy enough to take part in 2, the 5k in Southampton with Jaime-Leigh and the 10k in Portsmouth. I will also be running/walking (depends how Jaime-Leigh feels about running!!!) for Grandma who lost her fight. A truly inspirational woman. Diana my step mother has beaten and kicked cancers into touch. All wonderful ladies and this race is you all. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
