In memory of
Dr Ali Tomlinson
Thank you for visiting this page. If you are donating because you were unable to be present at the Memorial Concerts for Ali on December 12th, may I say thank you very much indeed for your generosity. It will be added to the sum above raised after her untimely death last year. May I also thank all those wonderful members of The West Midland Light Orchestra who have agreed to stage these concerts. Ali was their double bass player for over 30 years and is sorely missed by all her fellow musicians. May I also thank the staff and management of The Stourport Manor Hotel for making the staging of the concerts possible in these uncertain times. As you know my dear Ali passed away in the early hours of Monday October 19th after what amounts to a year long battle with ampullary cancer (pancreatic cancer by any other name). In 2015 when first diagnosed with this she underwent a serious operation at Stoke hospital where the primary was removed and we all hoped and prayed that the op was curative. However it was not to be, but Ali had nearly 5 extra years of life which were enormously happy and fulfilled. Peggy arrived in 2016, a companion for Basie. Ali's love affair with dogs continued to flower. "Dogs must have souls too," she said. "They understand so much about me, sometimes before I do!!" Mere words cannot express the loss I feel, shared by so many others whose lives she touched. However her faith was strong throughout her ordeal and she was supremely confident that "He was holding the door open for me." We have both been involved with and supporters of CRUK for many years. Ali's final wish was for her passing to be marked by donations to this wonderful charity whose work has achieved so much in terms of vastly increased life expectancy, and in some cases cures. She hoped that out of her passing your donations will contribute to a time when even pancreatic cancer can be managed or even cured. Love to all, Peter and all the family.
