Shine Night Walk Birmingham 10k 2026

My Story

💜 MY SHINE NIGHT WALK — BIRMINGHAM 10K | 4TH SEPTEMBER 💜 This is not a pity party. This is my story — and I’m sharing it because I need to raise awareness, speak my truth, and remind every single woman reading this that your voice, your body, and that gut feeling you have — they matter more than anything. All donations go towards early detection. I was early detected — and that gave me options and saved my life. This cause couldn't be more personal. Months before anything showed up I was in and out of my GP — I just knew something wasn’t right. I was exhausted beyond belief, and no matter how much I exercised or how well I ate, I just couldn’t shift the weight. It was so frustrating — doing everything “right” and still feeling so wrong. But for the longest time, nothing was showing up in the tests. And here’s the thing — nobody in my family has ever had cancer. I don’t carry the gene, and I had all of them checked — there is simply no history of it anywhere. According to the research, women my age with no family history and no gene are at much lower risk — statistically this was very unlikely to happen to me. But it did. And I know exactly what caused it — though for legal reasons I am not able to discuss it. Then I found the lump I went straight to my GP and got an urgent referral. But whilst I was waiting for that appointment, the swelling got so bad — my right breast blew up — that I ended up in A&E. That fast-tracked everything. They found a 10cm mass along with cancerous cells — but they still couldn’t find the actual cancer itself. I was sent for more biopsies. While waiting for those results I was sent to a clinic to talk about IVF — preparing me for the worst, in case chemotherapy was needed. They gave me options: IVF or injections to protect my eggs — but every single option was hormone-based. And what we found out later? My cancer was extremely sensitive to hormones. Those hormones could have killed me. I didn’t know that then — my gut just told me no. I said no to IVF. I wasn’t going to delay — and I wasn’t going to put any more hormones into my body. That quiet voice in my stomach? It was right. 🤍 More testing — and still nothing I had another round of biopsies — this time a VAB. And even after all that — still nothing conclusive. The wait began I was put on a waiting list for surgery. I waited months — and every single day felt endless. After so much back and forth, I finally got my date — October 13th. So I prepared — properly I ate well. I moved my body. I rested. I meditated. I started oxygen therapy at Mercia Charity here in Coventry. And I found a physiologist who specialised in working with cancer patients — she prepared my mind just as much as everything else prepared my body. I was ready. Surgery & recovery Operation day came. Blue dye was injected to check the lymph nodes — two were removed and tested. Recovery was rough — but I had my husband right there with me, and that support meant everything. And the moment it was out? I instantly felt better. Like my body already knew it was free. The results finally came in Triple positive — ER / PR and HER2. Aggressive. Fast growing. And extremely hormone-sensitive — which is exactly why my gut was so right about saying no to those IVF hormones. But — thank God — it was microscopic. Only 0.75mm. I got clear margins. Those two lymph nodes? No sign of spread at all. This is exactly why early detection matters. It gave me options. It saved my life. 🤍 My choice — and my plan The standard plan: chemotherapy followed by years of hormonal therapy. But I sat with it. I meditated. I stayed calm. And I went into hyperfocus. Within weeks, I basically had a master’s degree in my own diagnosis — I researched every treatment — conventional and alternative — inside and out. Spoke to people all across the globe. And because I knew the root cause — even though I can’t share it — that knowledge guided every single part of my alternative protocol. I knew exactly what to address, what to avoid, and how to support my body in the most targeted way possible. So I said no to chemo. Instead I got straight to work — building an environment where this could never thrive again. A few months ago All extensive tests done. Every single one came back clear. No signs. No inflammation. Nothing. I did it. 🥹🤍 God guided me through every single step of this — of that I have no doubt. WHAT I NEED EVERY WOMAN TO HEAR: If you think something is wrong — you are probably right. And even if you’re not — it is still your absolute right to be checked. Do not take “it’s nothing” for an answer. If something feels wrong — please get checked. Do not ignore it. Don’t take no for an answer. Advocate for yourself. Push for it — it’s your right. Trust your gut — it could save your life. September 4th — I’m walking 10km through Birmingham for Cancer Research UK — every penny raised goes towards early detection, because catching it sooner gives you options. It saves lives. Thank you so much for reading, for sharing, and for supporting this life-saving work. Every single donation matters — and every single one helps give someone else the same options I had. 🥹💜
