I'm taking on Cancer Research UK's "The Great Row". I'll be doing a full marathon distance, 42.2km / 26.2miles and I'll be tackling this single handedly :S To give some context to this: the world record for a marathon row is 2 hours 21 minutes, about 20 minutes slower than the equivalent record for running so I'm expecting this to be tough! But I'll be doing it for a great charity who support life changing/saving research! Surviving a cancer diagnosis is twice as likely as 40 years ago thanks to improvements in understanding and care. But this is not the end of the story, devastatingly, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. But advances in science have put cures within our grasp.
