MOONWALK, FLOSS & CARLTON ALL OVER CANCER
In memory of
RITA ANAND & SUNITA KAPUR
For those confused, Acro is a form of classical acrobatic dance. Sadly I won't be attempting this in September but I do love a bit of alliteration. Over the years I've shaved by head, ran marathons and based my job around the fight to beat cancer. However, this year will be my biggest challenge yet. This September, I’ll be putting on my uncoordinated dancing shoes to the test and after just 8 weeks training, I'll be performing alongside my dance partner Coral in front of close to 500 people at the CRUK Ultra Ballroom event. For the last year I've been looking for a new challenge and thought this was the perfect way to honour 2 women who loved the performing arts. After long battles with cancer, both Gunna (my aunt) and Rita (my mum) sadly passed away in December 2018 and October 2017 respectively. They were both real fighters and raised incredible amounts of money for research in India and the UK. Gunna was also synonymous with India's Teal warriors moment which raised awareness of Ovarian cancer. Please do give as generously as you can as the funds raised by Stand Up To Cancer accelerate the pace of groundbreaking translational research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives right now. Thank you, Akhil SOME FURTHER MOTIVATION For £125 = You can pick the top-half of my outfit For £125 = You can pick the bottom-half of my outfit For £50 = You can pick the shoes I dance in For £25 = You can pick the item of headware I dance in For £25 = You can pick the colour I dye my hair for competition week N.b. Stand Up to Cancer: LIFE-SAVING RESEARCH
100% of the money you raise goes towards speeding up life-saving research. Every day, scientists and researchers work tirelessly to beat cancer. But lab researchers will not get us there alone. Every penny raised helps speed up breakthroughs in the lab, transforming them into new tests and treatments for patients who need them. The research you fund will help us see 3 in 4 people in the UK survive their cancer by 2034.
