My Story
Longest Day Up is a motorbike challenge to travel from Lands End to John O'Groats on the longest day of the year between sunrise and sunset. Bikes must have been bought for no more than £300. I'm doing this challenge for several friends, three of whom sadly passed away..... All three were larger than life characters and our lives are poorer for not having them around. More pressing are the two friends currently fighting leukaemia, both incredibly brave and one of whom is still in 6th form at school. One in two of us will contract some form of cancer during our lifetime, so we all have a stake ion this and can't afford to take our hand off the throttle! As others have said, this is not a holiday, it is a serious endurance challenge on marginal motorcycles, which have to be kept running! I'm doing it to try and raise funds for an organisation who has seen it's fundraising proceeds plummet during the last year due to the Covid pandemic, so we need to ensure there is no halt to the vital research activity carried out by CRUK. CRUK have made great inroads into the understanding and treatment of cancer over the last 40 years, increasing survival rates significantly, so your donations will be making a real difference. I'm grateful for any donations, large or small to go to this important charity. Thanks for your support. Aidan
