Most of us will have our lives affected by cancer at some point - mine certainly has. Research into effective prevention and treatment is vital but requires considerable funding, much of which must unfortunately come from charitable donations. I will be taking part in Cancer Research's "Cycle 300 Miles in September" challenge this month, with a target of raising £300 to support their essential work. Please give whatever you can. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
