My Story
'Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.' Those two paragraphs are the generic story that Race4Life suggest you put down and normally I would delete it. Because its corny and samey and who wants to read that?! However, those two paragraphs could not have resonated with me more. On the 3rd of April my mum was diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at Christie's. Even if the only thing I contribute is my entry fee it will be worth it to help further research in the future. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to raise more - mainly because I run like a duck so it would be nice to feel the embarrassment was worthwhile. I also know these are all over the internet now - I mean people even do fundraisers for their birthdays - so I get it if you don't want to or don't feel able to. But if you can I honestly can't think of anything more lovely that you could do for the people going through treatment all over the UK.
