Find a Cure

My Story

I'm running the London Marathon on 26th April, in loving memory of my incredible stepmother Juliana, my beautiful cousin Leone, and my courageous grandmother Irene. They were all lost to cancer, so I'm running to help find a cure. Juliana was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2011, and after a mastectomy, chemo, and 5 years of hormone therapy, she seemed to beat it. But unfortunately, the cancer resurfaced in 2021, and it was incurable. She endured 3 more years of chemo, and when the cancer spread to her brain, radiotherapy had nasty side effects, so it was abandoned. Dad lovingly nursed her at their home in Northern Cyprus, and after 9 long months, Julie died in his arms, leaving him, her two children, and two very young grandchildren behind. Leone, my lovely cousin, lost her battle with breast cancer in 2018, aged just 39. She had a long and tough journey with the disease, and it eventually took over her body. She left behind a precious 5-year-old daughter, Naya, who's growing up without her mum. And Irene, my brave grandmother, suffered for years with throat cancer in the 1990s. The treatments were brutal, but Dad was by her side at the end, holding her hand as she passed away. I'm running 26.2 miles for Cancer Research UK, dedicated to saving lives through research. One person is diagnosed with cancer every 75 seconds, but with survival rates doubling in the last 50 years, this diagnosis doesn't have to be final. We can't give up! Please donate to help find the cure! "When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this: You haven't." —Thomas Edison 🌟
