My Story

My Story What an amazing response so far. Thank you everyone for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I’m overwhelmed by all your love and support. Following my 'Walk all over Cancer' challenge back in 2021, I am undertaking a further challenge in memory of my beloved husband Andrew. My strap-line is '60k for my 60th' - the k represents £ not kilometers! 2025 has marked 5 years since Andrew's untimely death from cancer and as I celebrate my 60th year in various forms with all my fantastic friends and family, along with the parties and fun, I want to give something back. Therefore, I am aiming to raise, through various events and challenges, as much money as I can for Cancer Research UK. There are so many fantastic charities and organisations out there, but as I said before my 2021 challenge, I strongly believe in trying to beat any disease at source hence my emphasis towards research. Events so far have included a 24 hour golf marathon and also Andrew's Memorial Golf Day, both kindly hosted by Oake Manor Golf Club. They were followed by a wonderful Barn Dance back in September with a Hog Roast / Pizza van. Another big thank you to Waterside Country Barn for so generously sponsoring this event, As well as those big ticket events, funds have been raised through 5p and 20p collections and a lucky squares draw. In addition, with the generous support of a group of vintage plane enthusiasts, we continue to raise funds by selling tickets for sightseeing flights out of Middlezoy Airfield. Looking ahead, a date for your diary is Saturday 7th February 2026 when a Charity Ball is being held at, and sponsored by Rumwell, for which I give my thanks. Further events are currently being planned for the summer of 2026 including a summer garden party at Waterside Country Barn, a sponsored walk in conjunction with West Somerset Railway and another golf day; watch this space for further details.
