5K for Ange

Yesterday, we lost our dear friend Angela, way too young. She leaves behind a loving husband, and hundreds of hurting friends and family members. She fought long and hard to battle against her illness, and time and time again she overcame it - completely against the odds. I know I'm not just speaking for myself when I say I've never met a more determined or brave woman. She was very strong willed and determined not to give in. She carried on fighting far far longer than anyone was expecting she could, and even in her last weeks she has repeatedly surprised her caregivers and nurses with her inner strength. Uncomplaining, she put up with so much suffering - and had such dignity and sparkle. She will be remembered as such an inspirational young woman. It was so hard to see Angela loosing her battle, but her bravery was infectious, and it somehow seemed to help others feel strength alongside her. However, there was a sickeningly helpless feeling I've had all the while, so I decided a few weeks ago that I would overcome my own fears in honour of the bravest person I know. I have my own health struggles, both mental and physical - but nothing life limiting, and while I have a functioning body, its only fair I put it to good use - for those who cannot. I'm taking part in Salisbury's Race for Life 5k to raise money and help save lives. I shall probably have to walk it, but even that will be a big achievement for me.
