15km run and mud challenge

Fri, 19 Sept 2025 - Fri, 19 Sept 2025

This cause is very dear to all of our hearts. We are challenging ourselves to try and raise £250 each to help fight this horrific disease. Please see below our individual dedicated stories.

In memory of

Luke Hart

My Story

In memory of Luke Hart 7th Oct 1972 - 22nd Jan 2023 On September 20th Sam Hart, Josh Bird, Harvey Sullivan and Russel Edwards will be taking part in a 15km tough mudder, both to challenge their strength, grit and determination, as well as raise money for an amazing cause, the Luke Hart Foundation. The foundation is a cause that is close to all of the lads that are competing, with it being Sam’s Father, Russel’s brother in Law and a dear friend of Josh and Harvey. The course will consist of over over 20 obstacle’s and 15km of running through harsh, cold and muddy conditions. They will be submerged in mud pits, dunked into pools filled with ice, electrocuted and even teargassed, it will certainly be an event worth sponsoring! Sam: My father was an incredibly strong and inspiring individual. His determination in the face of such a horrific disease and his courage over his final years of treatment are incomprehensible. This tough mudder is the first of many events I intend to take a part in in order to honour my fathers memory and to raise as much money as possible to aid in the fight against cancer. I carry his memory with me every day, his resilience continues to guide me and the thought of his struggle gives me nothing but strength knowing a tough mudder is light-work in comparison. I know he would love the event, the teamwork, the laughs and of course the post race pint. I know he will be with us every step of the way and of all the events, what could be a more fitting one start to my contribution than by getting electrocuted and tear-gassed! Harvey Luke had a way of bringing people together, and that same spirit is what will carry us through this challenge. Every obstacle, every muddy mile, will be taken on with him in mind. This run is for him, and while there will no doubt be moments that test us, there’ll also be plenty of laughs, a few dodgy jokes, and maybe even a celebratory pint at the end, just how Luke would have liked it. Russel: Luke, my entrusted brother-in-law would have loved this challenge. The togethernes, the camaraderie and all of the anecdotal belly laughs, was just his tonic. This challenge will be run, proudly with Sam and with an abundance of smiles, some of which will be a bit painful but it’ll be worth it as we all complete the 15km challenge. Luke, I know you’d approve of this, as there is music along the way and a pint given out to all competitors on the finish line. Sending love to all. To my fellow Muddy Men, we’ve got this!! Josh We are taking on this challenge, in just the way that Luke was not afraid to take on any challenges - and given the slight ridiculous nature of this, perhaps it is something he would have loved even more. 15km and more than 20 obstacles should prove to be a challenge, but it will be trivialised with the support from all of our friends and family. Well, maybe not trivialised but certainly easier! Always in memory of Luke, a man who was never shy of a challenge and bit of silliness. Luke's Story: Luke developed cancer in 2018…and fought a battle for almost five years until it finally took his life early in 2023. He was 50 years old and, until he was diagnosed, was a very fit man. Luke was a warm and caring family man who held his head high and lived life to the full until the end, but despite all his efforts to combat the progression of the disease, there was no cure. He left behind a loving wife, 2 children, family and hundreds of friends and colleagues who miss him. Please help us raise funds for Cancer Research UK to support vital research and development.
