1000 Kilometers For You

Hello there! Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. As many of you may know, last year I dedicated 6 months to train for and run the Paris Marathon to honor the memory of a beloved one, and to celebrate a friend who battled victoriously. Your contribution and support was the essence of my success and I couldn’t have done it with all of you. This year, I am honored, that Cancer Research UK was selected as the Charity of the year at Credit Suisse. I want to build on last year’s momentum and devote my energy to raise awareness and funds to support Dr Oliver Pearce’s ground-breaking immunotherapy research project - based just four miles from Canary Wharf at Bart’s Hospital. Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that harnesses our own immune systems to fight the disease. Currently immunotherapy only works for 10-20% of people, which means that thousands are dying because it hasn’t worked for them. Oliver and his team are on a mission to change this. Some cancers use barriers to protect themselves from treatment – just like a hermit crab using its shell as a shield against predators. Oliver is designing treatments that break through the barrier. It offers a real chance to finally bring cancer under control, and even eliminate some types of the disease, saving millions of lives worldwide. As such, I am committing to run 1000km this year, to raise awareness, to honor your and my beloved ones, and to raise funds to support Dr. Oliver’s groundbreaking research.
