My Story
10 years ago this August at just 4 years old I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. What followed was over 2 years of chemotherapy, with lumbar punctures, Hickman lines, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, ng tubes, walking frames, wheelchairs and wigs. I still wear inserts in my shoes due to one of the side effects of the chemotherapy. The treatment and side effects were only part of the problem. Being on the ward introduced me to death. Sadly not all of the friends I made on the ward survived the experience and I still think about them now. This year I am taking part in my schools race for life and I would love to be able to raise money to help to improve the chances of anyone diagnosed with childhood cancer. Please help me to celebrate getting to this point, 10 years later, and help fund important research into childhood cancers. Without this type of research I would probably not be here today.
