Telford 3 Peaks challenge

A team of 10 will be taking on the 3 peaks challenge in memory of Wendy, raising money so that Cancer Research can continue to help and support those living with or affected by cancer

My Story

Wendy/ Momma Harris/Mom was the most loving, caring, selfless, determined ,vivacious and devoted woman ever who always lived life to the full. She brightened up any room and those that knew her loved being in her company. Wendy was a role model to her kid's who never went without and despite life throwing a few lemons...she always knew how to make lemonade! Our world got turned upside down when we lost Wendy in January this year to cancer. After the initial diagnosis there was hope. Hope that with treatment and an operation we could cut this horrid disease out of our lives. But it wasn't meant to be, as Mom was diagnosed with Renal carcenoma, a form of kidney cancer. This tumour was benign but mimics the behaviour of a malignant tumour causing secondary cancer to spread the liver, lungs and part of the spine. It was terminal. Being such a rare form options were limited. But due to the work of Cancer Research our Mom had the chance of a drug that had only been in circulation for 6 years. We felt so lucky to have been given this opportunity. The journey of the treatment was not an easy one. But she was a fighter! Almost a year after diagnosis, she couldn't fight any longer. Our ending was not a happy one. We can't continue to let families/friends endure the pain that is cancer and this is the reason why we are taking on the 3 peaks! The 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales! 3 mountains...in 24 HOURS! This September 10 of us will be climbing Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike! That's a 3,064m climb and a total of 23 miles! The training has commenced, and we are determined to smash it as well as our combined goal of 3k! All money to be donated to Cancer Research to give more people a happy ending. Let's help fight this vile disease that touches so many of us in our lifetime. Treatments and mortality rates have vastly improved, but there is still so much work to be done. Let's stand together and fight cancer for anyone living with/affected by cancer.
