My Story
This summer I am raising money for CRUK and Macmillan Cancer Support (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/leia-judge) to race the 2023 Big Half Marathon in London (hopefully sub-2 hours!) and run the Chiltern 50km Challenge (a 50km ultramarathon), both in September. As many will know, I had my own battle with cancer this time last year. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in February 2022, and was lucky enough to be deemed cancer-free in July 2022. My treatment had its ups and downs, with my initial treatment plan nearly sending me into heart failure and landing me in a hospital bed, but ultimately the team (particularly the nurses) at Addenbrooks hospital were amazing and got me back on my feet. However, others are not so lucky to have a cancer that is as "treatable" as Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and, for some, there are no options available for them. This is why I’m raising money for Cancer Research UK. I know first-hand the work CRUK does, both in terms of advocacy and in funding essential research -- my own PhD institute was even co-funded by them! Donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
